Nandankanan Zoo celebrates 61st founding day, master plan worth Rs 400 crore for next 20 years

A master plan of Rs 400 crore has been prepared for the improvement of the Nandankanan Zoo and sent to the Central Zoo Authority for approval. The money will be invested in the next 20 years to make Nandankanan a world-class zoo, said Forest and Environment Minister Vikram Keshari Arukh.

This morning, the 71st founding day of the Nandankanan Zoo was celebrated at the Nandankanan premises. Joining him as the chief guest, Minister Arukh said that Nandankanan was established on December 28, 190, just under 40 years ago. Nandankanan was inaugurated in an area of ​​3.62 sq km, but today its area has increased to 1,083.32 hectares. The zoo, which started with 11 animals, currently houses 212 wild animals, reptiles and 212 animals in both zoos. It is one of the 15 zoos in the country to be developed as a world-class zoo by all the rules of the Central Zoo Software.

More than 240 wildlife in Nandankanan have been adopted. It has a revenue of about Rs 3 lakh. This year, the wolf enclosure, the new exotic monkey enclosure, has been built and dedicated to the audience. This year, a multi-purpose motor vehicle accommodation at a cost of Rs 35 crore, Rs 5 crore. . Reconstruction of the children's train is underway at a cost. A new departure route for tourists at a cost of Rs 20 lakh and a new safari bus stand at a cost of Rs 4 lakh have been constructed. With a completely new and state-of-the-art equipment, veterinary clinics, isolation homes, quarantine houses, laboratories and surgical homes have created new horizons for animal health.

Veterinarians have 24-hour veterinary care at the hospital. Grassland, livestock production centers and a slaughterhouse have been set up for the uninterrupted production of animal food. "In the coming days, other zoos will bring in donkeys, strong dogs, giraffes, zebras, goons, ass monkeys, petal monkeys, stumped monkeys, baboon monkeys, gibbons, etc.," he said.
