Bhubaneswar: Shri Jannath's supreme servant, the great revolutionary Chakhi Khuntia, was at once a patriot, a social reformer, a literary figure and a supporter of extraordinary personalities. "Every Oriya will be remembered for his unwavering sacrifice, strong leadership and patriotism," said Water Resources, Information and Public Relations Minister Shri Raghunandan Das. Joining the state-level revolutionary Chakhi Khuntia (Chandan Hazuri) Jayanti celebrations held at both Jaydev Bhavan and Jaydev Bhavan today under the auspices of the Information and Public Relations Department as the chief guest, Minister Shri Das said that India's liberation struggle is in full swing.

Chandan Hazuri or Chakhi Khuntia became an Orissa and spread the glory of Odisha all over India, leaving behind an incomparable struggle and sacrifice for the motherland. Joining Niladri Mohan Shatapathi, former program director of Bhubaneswar Doordarshan, as the keynote speaker, he said that only a strong warrior like Chakhi Khuntia could instill the indomitable courage in the mind of Jhansi queen Lakshmibai and Chakhi Khuntia was an Oriya presence, consciousness and patriotism. History will always remember him.

Dr. Lenin Mohanty, Editor, Utkal Prasang and Odisha Review, joined as the guest of honor and said that we need to work voluntarily to commemorate revolutionary personalities like the revolutionary Chakhi Khuntia. He is, in fact, an example of nationalism and humanism.

Chakhi Khuntia's son-in-law Bhimsen Hazuri and Chakhi Khuntia Memorial Committee, Dr. Basanta Pati of Puri joined as one of the distinguished guests and described Chakhi Khuntia as a great servant of Mahaprabhu Sreejagnath and a poet and literary figure of Odisha. Mr. Kripasindhu Mishra, Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, in his welcome address, paid homage to the revolutionary Chakhi Khuntia by describing him as one of the greatest figures in the history of Odisha.

Mr. Dhruba Charan Kar, Puri Chakhi Khuntia Smriti Samiti, thanked the participants for the function organized in association with Information Officer Deeptimayi Mohapatra.
The Department of Information and Public Relations laid a wreath at the statue of Chakhi Khuntia at Kalpana Chowk in the morning on the occasion of Sajayanti. Divisional Director Shri Kripasindhu Mishra, Director (Technical) Shri Niranjan Sethi and Divisional Officers were present.
