Andhra Pradesh House Committee visits Odisha for Telugu language and culture development

Bhubaneswar, The House Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council has visited Odisha to develop the language and culture of Telugu-speaking people living in Odisha. The seven-member delegation, led by Legislative Council President Mohammad Ahmed Sharif, held detailed discussions with Schools and Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das and departmental officials in the new conference room. On the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border, 80 lakh Telugu-speaking people live in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam and Gajapati districts, and their committee members are not getting enough Telugu textbooks.

A total of 14,150 Telugu textbooks are required from class I to VIII in 2019-20, while 13105 textbooks are required to be distributed in 2020-20, while 11,441 textbooks are not available in 2020-21, while 12,450 textbooks are required to be distributed in the academic year 2021-22. Satyabrata Sahu, Secretary, Schools and Mass Education, said that special attention is being paid to improving the educational skills of Telugu students, the provision of textbooks and the appointment of Telugu teachers in a timely manner.

With 139 Telugu education assistants working, 178 Telugu-speaking teachers are teaching in 41 Telugu medium schools, B.Ed. It was also informed at the meeting that 20 seats at the level and 50 seats at the Teacher Certificate Course level were reserved for Telugu speakers. Similarly, Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das on the educational and cultural development of Oriya speakers in Vijayanagaram Srikakulam and Vishakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Drew the attention of the committee. With 4,000 students studying in 120 schools in the above districts, the Odisha government has recruited 130 teachers to teach the Oriya language through the Utkal Sammilani.

While the above 100 marks are a Telugu option for the above students, the committee has drawn the attention of the committee to have 50 marks in Hindi and 50 marks in Telugu for their higher education opportunities. Similarly, the establishment of Oriya language medium schools in Vijayanagaram, Vishakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts, the introduction of Oriya language in the Anganwadi Centers of the districts inhabiting Oriya and the immediate filling of 140 Oriya teacher posts.
The proposal was also presented at the meeting.

Later, members of the Legislative Council Committee, Dr. Surya Narayan had a courtesy call on Patra. Bachchupati Dr. Patra Uttariya and the statue of Lord Shree Gannath were presented to the Speaker and members of the Legislative Council. He spoke in support of the US Alliance for Democracy, but said that maintaining some independence was important for Andhra Pradesh.
