Bhubaneswar, City Authorities to have a sustained and detailed campaign to make the citizens aware about

the various projects successfully completed and undertaken under the umbrella of the Smart City Initiative and convergence mode. Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena reviewed the progress of various works under takebn in Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) at his office chamber in Lok Seva Bhawan this morning. He has advised the city authorities to take up massive plantation drives across the State Capital in order to increase the green cover.

The Minister took immense interest in assessing the capacity, deadline, facilities, capacity and other details of on-going projects like ICOMC-BMC Building in which work is completed up to the 9th floor. The iconic structure, once completed, will house the BMC and Smart City offices and the Integrated City Operations and Management Centre (ICOMC), which is currently functioning at the Smart City office at BMC-Bhawani Mall in Saheed Nagar. The entire structure will have 11 floors including top seven floors for rental purpose in order to make the operation of the building sustainable.

Projects like Sensory Park, a facility for recreation of the specially-abled persons at Saheed Nagar, Smart Janpath from Sishu Bhawan Square to Vani Vihar, two multi-level car parking at Rajmahal Square and Saheed Nagar, Integrated Public Service Centre (IPSC) building at Bapuji Nagar, Socially Smart Bhubaneswar, Mission Awaas (taken up by BDA in convergence mode), Smart Traffic Management System, Smart Tracking System, Smart Parking Management, Smart Response and Incident Management System, Smart Governance and Smart Connect e-Governance, Solid Waste Management, Communications Network and ICOMC were discussed at length.

Projects in the pipeline, i.e. Lake Neutral, Railway Station Multi-Modal Hub, Bhubaneswar Museum of Urban History and e-Rickshaw were also discussed at the review meeting. While CEO Smart City Prem Chandra Chaudhary briefed the Minister regarding the progress of each project, other senior officials of BSCL were also present on the occasion.

Among the completed projects of the Bhubaneswar Smart City initiative, Socially Equity Centre at Kharvela Nagar, IPSC building at Saheed Nagar, Smart Park in Saheed Nagar, Adoptive Traffic Control System, Common Payment Card, I am Bhubaneswar Initiative, Bhubaneswar Urban Knowledge Centre, Bhubaneswar One, Public Bicycle Sharing Scheme were included in the discussion. The Minister was also briefed about the City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS) Project under BSCL, which will focus on the development of open spaces across the city. The project is currently in its Maturation Phase.

Bhubaneswar, The Department of Information and Public Relations has launched an annual photo exhibition at the local Adivasi Padia organized by the Information and Public Relations Department based on the arts, culture, sculpture and diversity of the tribes. Bhubaneswar, Odisha Crafts Museum- Kala Bhoomi which had been closed since 22nd march as the state and country went into lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic reopened its doors to visitors w.e.f 21st of January’2021. Now the museum was reopened adhering to the Government approved guidelines.

The museum staff and authorities have put in place a structure to ensure the safety of its visitors as the museum re-opens. Thermal scanning and adequate hand sanitizer provisions have been made on campus. 6 feet distance markers have been placed across the museum grounds to ensure proper social distancing. Further, the entire staff in the museum also went through briefing sessions with the authorities to better understand how to ensure visitors safety and satisfaction.

Bhubaneswar, preparatory meeting for the Adivasi Mela 2021 has been held at the Adivasi Padia in Bhubaneswar this evening. The meeting was chaired by Guha Poonam Kumar, Director, Department of Scheduled Tribes Development (ST), and Prof. Dr. S.K. Akhil Bihari Ota also spoke about the activities of the various teams formed to organize the fair.

The annual tribal fair has been held at the tribal grounds in Unit 1 since January 26 this year. This year's fair is epoch-making. Bhubaneswar, The Toshali National Handicrafts Fair, organized by the Department of Handlooms, Weaving and Handicrafts of the Government of Bhubaneswar in Bhubaneswar, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar this year at 6 pm today. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the largest fair in eastern India was being held under exceptional circumstances. The main purpose of the fair is to create market opportunities for products made by state and national handicraftsmen and weavers.

The fair is being organized in collaboration with the Department of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts of the State Government and the Development Commissioner (Handlooms) and the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), the Ministry of Handlooms of the Government of India. The fair is organized and sponsored by the State Institute of Arts and Crafts Development (Sidak), which works under the Department of Handloom, Weaving and Handicrafts.

About 35 percent of the population in India is Youth and are the future of the nation, said Prof Sabita Acharya, Vice Chancellor Utkal University, on the occasion of National Youth Day. As part of the mandate of the Vice Chancellor Utkal University to focus on strengthening research, a brainstorming session was held with its Research Scholars on youth contribution to nation building on the occasion of National Youth Day.

The session was organised with the Post Doctorate Fellows appointed under RUSA to understand how the research outcomes can impact the society in general and Youth in particular. Chairing the session Dr Abhaya Kumar Nayak said “youth is the future of the nation and education is the foundation for nation building and more such brainstorming sessions need to be organised by Utkal University”.

Under the Rastriya Uchha Shiksya Abhiyan (RUSA) project Utkal University is working with Youth through its Rural Outreach Programme to ensure the University and the community connect. Stressing on its work, Prof P.K.Hota, Coordinator RUSA said the research scholars themselves are youth and their research should impact the community at large.

More than 20 Post Doctorate Fellows are actively engaged in various research projects to which are focusing on improving the lives of the marginalised communities including youth in the Utkal University adopted villages. The Rural Outreach team is working closely with the PDFs on furthering the research outcomes. The brain storming session was organised by the Youth vertical of the Rural Outreach Programme led by Ms Sonali Mohapatra, Director UECH Prof A.A. Khan, Students and Faculties were present on the occasion.

Bhubaneswar, An Inter-Deaprtmental meeting on organisation of 15th Toshali national Crafts mela-2021 was held in the 2nd floor conference hall of Lok Seva Bhavan in connection with organisation of the 15th Toshali National Crafts Mela under the chairmanship of Development Commissioner-cum-Addl. Chief Secretary Sri Pradip Kumar Jena. 

He stressed upon social distance and strict adherence of Covid protocols. The 15th Toshali National Crafts Mela will be held at Janata Maidan, BBSR from 21st January to 4th February 2021. Cooperation with various Departments are required for smooth organisation of Toshali Mela, said Commissioner-cum-Secretary, HT&H Department Smt. Subha Sarma. The mela will provide greater opportunity to weavers and artisans. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, this time 250 stalls will be there in the Toshali Mela.

Discussions were made about necessary Police deployment in and around mela ground to maintain law and order. Adequate traffic personnel will be deployed to control traffic and smooth movement of vehicles. State Fire Officer has been requested to provide two units of Fire Brigade round the clock. Uninterrupted power supply, water supply to the fair ground, first aid, special facility for PwDs and ample media coverage will be done by respected Departments.

Additional Commissioner of Police Smt. Rekha Lohani, BMC Commissioner Sri Premchand Choudhary and other senior officers of various Departments were present in the meeting.

Inaugurating the 3rd National Chilean Bird Festival today, Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik said that Odisha is rich in resources and beauty with the blessings of Lord Jagannath. Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Forests and Environment, Drs. Mona Sharma opined that Odisha is indeed India’s paradise in terms of environmental tourism. A video film was shown on Chile. Mr. Sachin Ramchandra Yadav, Deputy Director General of Forests and Mr. Sachin Ramchandra Yadav, Director of Tourism on behalf of the State Forest and Environment Department, Chief Forest Conservator, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the purpose of excellence in nature and environmental tourism.

The ceremony was graced by former Chief Forest Officer Dr. Ajit Patnaik, Dr. of Bombay Natural History Society. S. Balichandra was felicitated by Minister Shri Arukh and Minister Panigrahi. Mr. Bishal Kumar Dev, Chief Administrative Secretary, Department of Tourism, delivered the welcome address. Mrs. Mishra, Chairperson, OTDC, and Mr. Harish, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests, had their say. Tourism Director Shri Sachin Ramchandra Yadav offered his thanks.

Bhubaneswar, the era of biopics is now going on in Bollywood with the extraordinary work of the common man. Mohan Mohapatra, better known as Sairam Gandhi, an Oriya boy known in Odisha, has made a name for himself in the world of Bollywood biopics. In a very short time, this ordinary boy from Odisha has engaged in extraordinary work.

Inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, he has made a concerted effort to raise awareness about the Swachh Bharat campaign. There were marches across the country over his Clean India campaign. The film is based on the Bollywood film 'Silver Gandhi'. The film is directed by Abinash Nand and produced by Santosh Sethi. His film ‘Sairam Gandhi’ won the first prize at the Cannes Film Festival and brought glory to the country and the state.

"The film will inspire and inspire Indians for a clean and healthy life," Abinash Nand said. Mr. Nanda thanked the sponsors Santosh Sethi, Sangeeta Hans and Rajinder Singh Bhatia, the authors Abhimanyu Mishra and Sanjay Musam. Bhubaneswar: The two-day third edition of Koraput Literary Festival (KLF) organised by Odia Media Private Limited was inaugurated today at Hotel New Marrion Bhubaneswar. The two-day event was inaugurated by Odia language, Literature and Culture minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi.

Two eminent authors, Dr Padmaj Paul and Sri Amaresh Pattnaik received Koraput Literary Award for 2020. Each were awarded with a cash prize of 21,000 rupees, a certificate, memento and uttariya. Popular novelist Dr Bibhuti Patnaik and celebrated poet Sri Haraprasad Das also joined as guest at the inaugural event. Odia Media director and note fiction writer Subhransu Panda presided over the meeting.

After the inaugural session, there were two interaction sessions with the laureates. While poet Rakshak Nayak interviewed poet Amaresh Pattnaik, Jnanee Debashis Mishra interviewed author Dr Padmaj Paul. After the interactive session a discussion session on ‘Fiction: Contemporary or Classic’ was held. Dash Benhur, Ajay Swain, Sarojini Sahoo and Paresh Patnaik were joined as speakers, Amaresh Biswal moderated the session. Another discussion session on ‘Poetry: Diversity or Division’ was moderated by Navjyoti Ray. Pradeep Biswal, Kedar Mishra and Gyana Hota have put their opinion in this session.

The first day event was ended with a poetry recitation session moderated by young poet Chakradhar Patra. Kalpasa Ankita Shaw received PEN IN BOOKS Best-Seller award for her debut poetry collection A Lost Heaven. 5 books published by PEN IN BOOKS were launched by esteemed guests during the inaugural session.

The two-day festival will showcase 7 discussion sessions and two poetry recitation sessions. The closing ceremony and few sessions will be held at Duduma Waterfall and in Koraput on December 30. A team of 50 authors left for Koraput today evening by a special bus. Festival director and author Subhransu Panda said, unlike the past years this two-day national festival is witnessing a limited gathering of celebrated authors, thinkers, policymakers, politicians, social activists, and intellectuals from Odisha only. 

This year in view of the COVID pandemic situation no guests from other parts of the country are invited to Koraput Literary Festival, said Mr Panda.

Odisha culture and tourism minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi will grace the inaugural event along with celebrated novelist Bibhuti Patnaik and acclaimed poet Haraprasad Das at Hotel New Marrion, Bhubaneswar on December 29.

Briefing about the annual award Mr Panda added that well-known author Dr. Padmaj Paul will be conferred with the Koraput Literary Award 2020 for Fiction and noted poet Amaresh Patnaik will receive Koraput Literary Award 2020 for poetry.The awards comprise a certificate, a memento and a cash prize of Rupees 21,000 for each.
