Save consumers a minimum of Rs 10 on petrol and diesel prices: Niranjan

Bhubaneswar, Petrol and Diesel price hikes are now hitting the public. Oil prices have risen sharply. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik said in a press release that the people and farmers were being killed. Mr Patnaik said that during the UPA - 1 and 2, international crude oil prices ranged from $ 100 to $ 130 per barrel, while petrol and diesel prices were always below Rs 80 per liter. Crude oil prices have now fallen to $ 50 a barrel, while petrol and diesel prices have touched $ 70 a barrel.

The current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was the Chief Minister of Gujarat at the time, saying those who were raising oil prices were traitors. Mr Patnaik questioned who was now a traitor. Even then, the Biju Janata Party (BJP) was protesting against the rise in oil prices. Why are they sitting still now? Mr Patnaik wrote a letter to the Chief Minister asking him to reduce the price of oil by Rs 10 per liter in the state.

If the BJP government thinks that if the rates are reduced, the revenue from the GST can be paid to the revenue deficit. On the other hand, many vehicles, heavy vehicles from neighboring states are coming through our state every day. If oil prices are low, those vehicles will collect oil from our state. As a result, the government will be able to compensate for the oil sales, so there will be no risk of revenue loss due to the inclusion of more GST, ”Mr Patnaik said.

In addition, the Chief Minister should press the Prime Minister to reduce the central government's Rs 34-35 crore tax on oil. Reduce by Rs 10 to Rs 14 from the state government. So the general public will be relieved and the prices will be controlled. Mr Patnaik warned that the Congress party would call for a "Odisha shutdown" on the 15th if the government did not take action.
