Prepare a project for your district in terms of resources and potential

Bhubaneswar, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra has directed the district governors of all the districts to prepare resource and potential-based innovative projects to take their livelihoods and land development to the next level. Mr. Mohapatra issued the directive in three phases of the meeting with the district, north, south and central revenue divisions of the state through video conferencing from the Lok Sabha building. The Chief Minister said that the basic necessity schemes have now been widely extended in the state. Significant progress has been made in food security, housing, road communication, electricity, drinking water, and education.

It is time to take the development process to the next level. Various aspects of economic progress over the past 6 to 10 months due to the unprecedented Covid-16 epidemic. It was gone. Extensive efforts need to be made to accelerate this and continue to develop continuously. Therefore, Mr. Mohapatra directed the district governors to prepare projects to increase innovative livelihoods and increase economic activity based on agriculture, climate, natural resources, human resources and new opportunities created in each district.

Mr. Mohapatra added that all villages have access to permanent roads, irrigation for single crops, sustainable livelihoods, cash crop cultivation, marketing of agricultural products, income growth, piped water supply, health care and financial activities. It is important to identify and fill key gaps in growth. The Chief Secretary directed the district administration to start such a project in advance. Emphasizing on the speedy implementation of ongoing infrastructure development projects in the districts, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Jena, Development Commissioner, directed the forest department to take precautionary measures for environmental clearance, issuance of various certificates, land acquisition and so on.

He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: "One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure ... there are going to be some difficult decisions for government". Mr. Jena also suggested that new projects be developed based on real and tangible data. He also set specific standards for evaluating the outcome of projects. Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner for Agricultural Production, said that basic agricultural sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries are the mainstays of livelihood in rural areas. In this case, the benefits of innovative projects and investments are directly available to farmers, agricultural workers and the public. Mr. Sharma therefore ordered the development of chain-based integrated projects to increase agricultural productivity and market agricultural products.

Chief Secretary Shri Mohapatra promised the district governors that all other assistance would be provided by the government to Pandi and other resources for resource-based projects to fill important gaps in infrastructure development and increase income. The district commissioners and district officials of all the districts informed about the new possibilities with the latest information on the development program through video conferencing.
