Bhubaneswar, The Chief Secretary and 5-T secretaries of Gadam Mardhan visited the temples of Narsinghnath and Harish on both sides of the hill by helicopter during a stormy visit yesterday. Former MLA and Krishak Morcha state president Pradeep Purohit demanded that the state government clarify what the secret agenda was during the visit. In the last 11 years, Chief Minister Khod has visited the Mrisinghanath Temple and announced that all kinds of development work will be done at the tourist site.
The state government has not developed any of the major tourist destinations in western Odisha, including Narsinghnath and Harish. Now, 11 years later, the state government remembers the two tourist destinations, Mr. Purohit said. Mr. Purohit welcomed the state government’s initiative for the development of these two tourist destinations, which are rich in the natural beauty of the Gandhamardhan hills, and was once a Buddhist university in Gandhamardhan hills by Nagarjuna, a disciple of Gautam Buddha. Nrsinghnath and Harishankar will be given the status of central tourist destinations and, above all, the establishment of a medicinal project with the protection of 2,200 species of rare wildlife available in the Gandhamardhan hills.
Mr Purohit demanded that the state government provide funds in the current budget session if the state government has the sincerity to develop the two tourist destinations. If the secretariat has a secret agenda to supply bauxite to the Vedanta company, then the state government should disclose it. Mr. Purohit warned that the people of western Odisha would never tolerate it if the state government intended to mine in Gaddhamardan.
