Bhubaneswar, the 73rd anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, a symbol of truth, peace and non-violence, has been observed in the Assembly premises with the support of the Information and Public Relations Department. On the occasion, a wreath was laid at Gandhi's statue in the Assembly and a tribute was paid to him. Governor Prof Ganesh Lal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and paid his respects to the Chief Guest. Suryanarayana Patra, Minister for Water Resources, Information and Public Relations, Shri Raghunandan Das, Deputy Chief Whip of the Government Party, Rohit Pujari were present.
Among others, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Secretary, Information and Public Relations, and Dr. K.S. Sudhyashu Sadangi, Assembly Secretary Dashrathi Shatapathi, Information and Public Relations Director Kripasindhu Mishra, Technical Director Niranjan Sethi and former MLA Ajay Jena were present on the occasion.
Gandhiji's favorite ashram hymn, "Vaishnav Jan To .." was also sung on the occasion, while the martyrs of the country were greeted with cannons by the state police and a two-minute silent prayer was offered at 11 a.m. in their honor. Assistant Director (Field) Sucheta Priyadarshini coordinated the program while Santosh Kumar Das, Deputy Director, Area, Information and Public Relations, assisted in the management of the program.
