Center has written to all states to take steps to prevent the spread of rumors about the vaccine

New Delhi: Union Home Secretary Ajay Valla has written to all states to take necessary steps to curb any rumors about the Kovidian vaccine. The letter calls for legal action against those who misrepresent Kovasild and Serot Institute-produced Covasild and Bharat Biotech-manufactured Covoxin.

Even after the National Regulatory Authority of the country assured both vaccines that they were safe and boosted the body’s immune system, various misleading news on social media cast doubt on the safety and efficacy of these vaccines. He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: "One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure ... there are going to be some difficult decisions for government".

In his letter, the Home Secretary called on the states to take appropriate technical measures to investigate the allegations. "Under the Indian Penal Code and the Disaster Management Act, such people can be punished," he said. "In addition, the general public should not believe the rumors surrounding the vaccine," he said. Even the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has recently issued posters in some places to alleviate the controversy surrounding Kovid-16.
