State-level jubilee of Basakbi Fakir Mohan is being celebrated by the Information and Public Relations Department

Bhubaneswar: Bhandaripokhari MLA Prafulla Samal Basakbi Fakir Mohan was the chief guest at the state-level Basakbi Fakir Mohan Jayanti celebrations held at Jaydev Bhavan today under the auspices of both the Information and Public Relations Department at the Jaydev Bhavan. His contribution to the popularization of the Oriya language in a very simple way is unforgettable. "It simply came to our notice then that we were paying homage to the Oriya language," he said.

Joining Bhograi as a guest of honor on behalf of Bhograi MLA Shri Anant Das Basakbi, he said that he was born in Odisha and the soil of Baleshwar is proud of his contribution today. Utkal Prasang and Editor of Odisha Review, Dr. K.S. Lenin Mohanty said that history will always remember the contribution of Basakbi in Oriya language and literature. It was through his efforts that there was a revival among the masses.

Ms. Mishra, Chairperson of the Odisha Tourism Corporation, said efforts should be made to create the identity of Basakbi Fakir Mohan not only in our state but globally. He was of the opinion that the whole world could be introduced to his relationship if he could have a web series based on Basakbi. Speaking as the keynote speaker, former administrator and eminent writer Bijay Kumar Nayak said that Basakbi Fakir Mohan was indeed a general. As Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das was the first in Odisha in many respects, Basakbi was the first to create short stories, novels, autobiographies, romances, travel stories, and so on. He was a pioneer in the language, land and liberation movements.

Mr. Kripasindhu Mishra, Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, delivered the welcome address and said that Basakbi Fakir Mohan Senapati has worked for the Oriya nation in the heart of Nirvika. At the end of the program, the Deputy Director of the Department, Shri Santosh Kumar Das, thanked the participants. The Department of Information and Public Relations laid a wreath at the statue of Basakbi Fakir Mohan at Banibihar at 9.30 am on the occasion of the jubilee. Divisional Director Shri Kripasindhu Mishra, Director (Technical) Shri Niranjan Sethi and Divisional Officers were present.
