Chief Minister inaugurates restoration and beautification of Ramlingeshwar Reservoir in Berhampur

Berhampur, The unique example of transformation has become the Ramlingeshwar Reservoir in Berhampur. Today, the reservoir, located in an unused and unhealthy environment, has become a major tourist attraction in Berhampur. Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated the Ramlingeshwar Reservoir and Park, located in the heart of Berhampur amidst spectacular fireworks, laser lights to the beat of Shiva Tandab hymns and a musical atmosphere.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik Ramlingeshwar addressed the people of Berhampur through video conferencing this evening.

Highlighted the history of the reservoir. To keep the water of this sacred reservoir clean and to preserve its beautiful environment.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of Berhampur. The Chief Minister said what was the condition of the reservoir in the last few years and where it is now.

Today, it is possible that the Chief Minister thanked everyone for the unwavering support and cooperation of the people of Berhampur. Praising the strong spirit of the people of Ganjam during the Kovid, the Chief Minister said that due to the restraint and envy of the people of Ganjam, Kovid has been successfully controlled in the district today and Ganjam has become a role model for the whole country.

While the construction of a stadium is progressing satisfactorily, the construction of a waste management center at a cost of Rs 42 crore for the city is nearing completion. "I have always been closely monitoring the development of Berhampur and Ganjam," he said, adding that the chief minister sought the cooperation of all to make Berhampur a beautiful and modern city.

Minister for Forests and Environment Shri Bikram Keshari Arukh, Member of Parliament Shri Chandrashekhar Sahu, MLA Shri Bikram Panda, President of Odisha Kothabadi and other Construction Workers Welfare Board Shri Ramesh Chandra Chaupattinayak addressed the function on the occasion. Former Ganjam District Magistrate Shri Premchand Chowdhury and former Project Director Shri Chakraborty Rathore, who have been active in the restoration and beautification of the reservoir, have been felicitated by the Chief Minister on behalf of Chief Minister Shri V.K. Pandian expressed his heartfelt gratitude.

The event was attended by senior officials, including the Chief Secretary. The Ganjam district commissioner delivered the welcome address and thanked the commission of the Berhampur Metropolitan Corporation. Located on a notable 4-acre site, this ancient reservoir is known as a sacred pond in Berhampur. It was unused over time.


With the efforts of Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik, the rehabilitation and beautification of the reservoir was started in 2016 at a cost of Rs 12 crore.

In the middle of the pond, a 35-foot-tall statue of Lord Shankara is adorned, while the garden around it makes it more attractive.
