Bhubaneswar, The Government of Odisha has received two national awards for outstanding work in the field of drinking water supply through Jagamishan and Pipe. Odisha is included in the second edition of the Janagraha city administration. Union Home Minister Hardeep Singh Puri presided over the function and presented the award to Odisha through a video conference.
G. Mathivathanan, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, received two of the awards from the state. Fifty-six appeals from 17 states have been taken into consideration, while Odisha has bagged first place in two of the five categories. In the Jagamishan field, he has been awarded the Best State Award for his outstanding achievements in law enforcement, policy making and enforcement. The award has been given to slum dwellers implemented by Odisha for the implementation of the Land Ownership Act-2017 and the development of slums through the Slum Development Association.
The Public Health Technical Organization under the Department of Urban Development has been awarded the ‘Best Civic Agency’ award in the field of piped water supply in urban areas. The awards are presented in memory of V. Ramachandran of Decentralization. Awards are presented in five categories: Best State, Best Municipality, Best Civic Agency, Best State Election Commission and Best State Finance Commission. Minister of State for Home and Urban Development, Law, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Pratap Jena thanked the officials of the department for their hard work as they received the award today.
Minister Jena said that the entire world is following the success of the Odisha Urban Development and SmartCity Mission under the leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik. Today's awards ceremony was attended by Sangramjit Naik, Administrator, Basant Kumar Senapati, EIC PH, and Sharda Panda, Deputy Secretary to the Government, and other departmental officials.
