BJP delegation met the governor against widespread corruption in the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to make all raw houses in the state permanent by 2022. But here the National Flagship Program Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme in the state is not being implemented properly. Corruption is rampant in providing permanent housing in 314 blocks, municipalities and NACs in the state. Ruling BJP legislators and leaders are extorting Rs 20-25,000 from the beneficiaries. The poorest beneficiaries cannot afford to go home as the leaders of the ruling party take the first installment money in the form of PCs. A high-level BJP delegation led by state president Shri Sameer Mohanty met the governor and handed over a memorandum.

The list of eligible beneficiaries of the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme was census 2011, while the ruling party's ineligible beneficiaries were included in the list. As the BJP protested against it in 2014, the state government issued notices to Sani in all block offices. As of February 2020, no work orders have been issued since 2014, despite the fact that the application was submitted by the beneficiaries. BJP workers are being killed in a deadly attack on the Prime Minister's Office. A blazing example of this is the killing of BJP leaders Kulmani Baral and Divyasinghe Baral at Nrutang in Mahanga constituency in Cuttack district.

BJP leader Kulmani Baral has been removed from the list of ineligible beneficiaries and some local government officials have been suspended for protesting against the ongoing corruption in the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme. At the instigation of ruling party minister Pratap Jena, BJP thugs killed BJP leaders Kulmani Baral and Divyasinghe Baral. Many such incidents are happening all the time in the state. The state government is propagating itself by writing Biju Pakka houses in front of the permanent houses under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. Due to this, the law and order situation in many villages was deteriorating.

The delegation therefore demanded that the Prime Minister intervene in the ongoing corruption scandal in the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. Opposition leader Pradeep Naik, National Spokesperson Sambit Patra, Deputy Leader Vishnu Sethi, Chief Whip Mohan Majhi, Senior Leader and MLA Jayanarayana Mishra, Subash Panigrahi, Ganesh Ram Khuntia, Bhavani Vhoi, Kusum Tete, Lalithendu Vidyadhar Nayak Padhi, Sukant Nayak, Prakash Soren, State General Secretary Dr. Lekhshree Samant Singh, spokesperson Thakur Ranjit Das was the chief guest.
