Telephone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Prime Minister Johnson once again thanked India for inviting him as its chief guest for the upcoming Commonwealth Day, but expressed his inability to attend the ceremony in view of the current changed status of Covid-19 in the UK. However, he expressed interest in a visit to India in the near future.

He acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat Lukashenko's government, but said that maintaining some independence was important. He said he was ready to welcome Prime Minister Johnson in India as soon as the situation returned to normal.

The two leaders reviewed the ongoing compromise cooperation between the two countries, including the availability of the Kovid-19 vaccine for the world. They reiterated their shared belief in the prospects of Indo-UK partnership in the post-Brexit and post-Covid scenarios and agreed to work out a comprehensive plan to make that possibility a reality.
