Statue of prominent freedom fighter Rabindranath Rai unveiled in Jagatsinghpur district

Jagatsinghpur, A statue of Rabindranath Rai, a prominent freedom fighter and social activist, was unveiled on Monday in Gopalpur village under Naugaon block of Jagatsinghpur district. Odisha Chief Minister for Science, Technology, Public Enterprises, Social Security and Differential Welfare Shri Ashok Chandra Panda was the chief guest at the function and inaugurated the event.

Addressing a public meeting here, Minister Panda said that this year, the state government has decided to celebrate the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi's arrival in Odisha. Fortunately, this year also marks the centenary of the birth of freedom fighter Rabindranath Rai. Sargat Ray was born on April 5, 1921, and was imprisoned several times for his struggle against British rule.

After his patriotism and independence, he was honored by the former President, Vice President, Prime Minister and Chief Minister of the state for various public works. "Sargat Rai has always called for a united India, regardless of caste, creed or creed, to keep India intact," he said. The guest of honor at the event was State Water Resources, Information and. Joining Jagatsinghpur MLA and District Planning Committee Chairman Shri Prashant Kumar Muduli as the guest of honor on the occasion, freedom fighters like Sargat Rai continued to fight when they heard the name of the British police.

The general meeting, chaired by senior journalist and columnist Shri Gurukalyan Mohapatra, was attended by Shri Devi Chowdhury and Shri Ashok Kumar Rai, son of Rabindranath Rai, who spoke on the life of the freedom fighter. The chief guests at the ceremony were the freedom fighter and social activist Devi Chowdhury, Pramod Kumar Mallick, Priyanath Roy, Pradyumna Kanungo, Kailash Chandra Behera, Samaresh Beura, Pradeep Kumar Sai.

At the beginning, the guests unveiled a statue of freedom fighter Rabindranath Rai and laid a wreath at the meeting with photographs of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the proverbial man Biju Patnaik and Rabindranath Rai. Shri Rabindra Kumar Patnaik delivered the welcome address and guest introduction. Artists from the Dadhibamanjiu Cultural Organization performed the opening song. The ceremony was attended by the families of the freedom fighters, villagers, officials and members of the media.
