State government has hampered the social and economic development of Scheduled Castes

Bhubaneswar, The state government has been neglecting Scheduled Caste students for 21 years. Scheduled Caste students have 18 per cent reservation in employment and only 10 per cent in education. Technical colleges have 23 and 18 per cent reservation for Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste students, while the state government provides 12 per cent instead of 23 and 7 per cent instead of 23 per cent.

The central government has been providing loans to Scheduled Castes people through the National Securities and Financial Development Corporation since the 16th. The state government will provide loans to Scheduled Castes with more than 300,000 jobs. However, the state government has disbursed Rs 3.72 crore to 27 people in 2016-17, Rs 3.12 crore to 27 people in 2017-18 and Rs 1.8 crore to 2017 people in 2019-20. In the last three years, the state government has provided loans to only six out of all Scheduled Castes in Odisha.

This is very low compared to other states. The state government has completely failed to protect and discriminate against Scheduled Castes in the state due to the absence of meetings of these committees, while Khod is the chairman of the Vigilance and Monitoring Committee and the State Securities Welfare Board. Opposition leader Pradeep Nayak has accused the state government of obstructing the social and economic development of Scheduled Castes in the state.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has taken a landmark decision. As a result of this decision, the Scheduled Caste students of the country will get more than 5 times the post matric scholarships or scholarships they get for higher education once they pass the matriculation and all the government colleges, government-affiliated private colleges, universities, etc. in the country. The students in the category have financial constraints to get higher education.

Of this, the central government has decided to provide a grant of Rs 35,536 at a ratio of 60:40. The state government needs to provide 90 per cent of the money to the students. The central government has provided an annual grant of Rs 1,100 crore from 2017-18 to 2019-20, while it will provide about five times as much as Rs 4,000 crore from 2020-21 to 20-25-26.

"As a result, students from poor Scheduled Castes will be able to get scholarships on time, and their bank accounts will be able to receive scholarships directly," he said. Mr. Dillip Mallick, in-charge of the State Scheduled Castes Front, was present at the press conference.
